Job description

The successful candidate will be expected to lead the Miller School of Entrepreneurship. Since the School has just been created, the leader will be responsible for creating programming, gaining required university and system approvals for offering the degrees and programs, hiring faculty, teaching, integrating with other units and programs across campus, attracting motivated students, engaging the community, fund-raising, co-curricular program design and implementation, and other duties necessary for the creation of a successful and vibrant entrepreneurship school. In addition, the university has recently designated several neighboring areas as a millennial campus, called the East Carolina Research and Innovation Campus (ECRIC). The Director will work with campus administrators to design spaces to be used as hatcheries, incubators and accelerators in these areas.

The successful candidate will receive a twelve-month faculty appointment at the rank of Professor (tenured or tenure-track) in the Department of Management or other department as appropriate within the College of Business.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Ph.D. or ED.D. from an appropriately accredited institution, in business or a business-related field. The candidate will possess the qualifications necessary to be designated a professionally qualified faculty member. A minimum of 5 years of experience working with entrepreneurial programs or organizations in an advisory/developmental capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience related to the delivery of services and programs in higher education or the corporate sector related to entrepreneurship, innovation, and small business development is required. The director must be capable of working with a university environment to accomplish the goals of the Miller School. The candidate should have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to handle multiple projects with frequent deadlines, and ability and commitment to working with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff and entrepreneurs
