Physical Requirements

Standing for long periods, lifting of reagents, pushing and pulling of slide drawers, extended periods of sitting at computer, ability to move around hospital between departments. The position will have exposure to chemicals, blood, body fluids, and tissue.


Monday-Friday, day shift, 40 hrs/wk

Job Summary

The Histology Lab Assistant facilitates the appropriate, accurate, and timely workload assignment to Pathologist Assistants, histotechs, and pathologists, receives and accessions specimens, handles equipment maintenance, reagent preparation and other duties as assigned. Experience with medical terminology required. Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, enthusiasm, and diplomacy is preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in data entry and computer software applications (Cerner CoPath Plus experience desired). Must be detail oriented and enjoy working in a team environment.

General computer skills, including data entry, medical terminology, attention to detail.

Preferred Education/Experience

2 years college or equivalent and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
