Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is a forward thinking, contemporary and world-class Higher Education Institution with a vision to redefine the conservatoire for the 21st century. At the leading edge of music and dance training, it provides specialist education of the highest quality, which reflects the increasingly collaborative world of artistic practice. The Faculty of Music accounts for over 600 of the higher education (HE) students within Trinity Laban and delivers programmes of study for students from pre-degree to doctoral levels through an innovative combination of practical and academic studies through which it seeks to impart in its students the skills needed for a dynamic and sustainable career in the music profession.
Integral to the Faculty of Music are the learning opportunities provided by the Academic Studies Department, who deliver core academic and vocational learning across all programmes of study within the Faculty. The team of Academic Studies teaching staff – many of whom also contribute to instrumental/vocal/composition teaching within the Faculty – each exemplify the multi-faceted skillset of modern musicians and thus provide important exemplars for students.
The Academic Studies department seeks to appoint suitably qualified candidates for the below posts:
- Professorial Staff – Music History in Context (Part-Time, Permanent)
- Professorial Staff – Jazz History (HPT, Part-time to 31 July 2019)
With established research strengths in composition and music technology, musicology, music psychology, and the performance of music (particularly contemporary music) – our strategic priority are the development of a practice-led research hub with specialisms in creative practice/performance, performance science and performance pedagogy as well as text-based research in our disciplines; the further integration of our research and knowledge exchange/public engagement programmes; and increasing our research collaborations, seeking particularly to engage international partners.
