Shadow Lawn Stage, the professional theatre of Monmouth University in NJ, announces its auditions for The Fantasticks to be presented in June 2018.
The Fantasticks is a 1960 musical with music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones. It tells an allegorical story, loosely based on the play The Romancers (Les Romanesques) by Edmond Rostand, concerning two neighboring fathers who trick their children, Luisa and Matt, into falling in love by pretending to feud.
PREPARATION: Please prepare a brief contemporary monologue, and a Broadway or Pop. Bring sheet music in your key. Accompanist will be provided.
CAST NEEDS: The Boy’s Father (Hucklebee), The Girl (Luisa), The Actor (Henry), The Narrator (El Gallo), The Boy (Matt), The Girl’s Father (Bellomy), The Man Who Dies (Mortimer), The Mute
LOCATION: Woods Theatre, Monmouth University. GPS location: 370 Cedar Avenue, Long Branch, NJ. Theatre and parking is a right-turn off Cedar Avenue, one block after SR-71-south turns onto Norwood Avenue.
