RESPONSIBILITIES – Primary responsibilities include teaching applied cello (undergraduate and graduate levels), overseeing string methods for music education majors, and coaching chamber music. Recruitment of qualified undergraduate and graduate cello students is an essential part of the position.
The successful candidate will enhance and develop coursework in an exciting 21st century string pedagogy program. This program will coordinate with the Athens Community Music School and Ohio Valley Center for Collaborative Arts to create, build grant support for, and organize a regional string initiative for pre-college students in our broader community.
QUALIFICATIONS – Masters or equivalent required. Evidence of outstanding musical artistry and effective teaching is required. Ability to recruit, administer and maintain an active cello studio.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in string pedagogy and community-based initiatives preferred. Experience with certified teaching method and successful non-academic studio teaching desired.
