The successful candidate will be able to teach undergraduate courses in media production including, but not limited to, courses such as Video Production & Editing, Media Literacy, Media Law, and Video Production Practicum. Experience and interest in teaching Public Speaking or other communication courses is also an asset. Instructional responsibilities will also include serving as a primary academic advisor and as an advisor for Senior Capstone projects.
In addition to teaching, this Media Communications position also includes serving as Muskingum University’s Cable Television Station Manager. Orbit Media, a campus converged student media organization, operates Orbit Television as a 24 hour cable channel and YouTube channel. Position duties will include media personnel management, including recruiting, training and daily mentorship of student employees and volunteers. The Cable Television Station manager also serves as executive producer of ongoing multi-camera televised special events such as guest speakers, music performances, academic assemblies, graduation, and field sports productions. The candidate will also be expected to advise student internships, and maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the media profession.
Minimum requirements of the position include a Master’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, or related field, and proficiency with teaching video editing software, DSLR instruction, and Adobe Creative Suite software including Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. The candidate should also have multi-camera studio production and/or live multi-camera production experience.
