Job description

Southern Arkansas University is accepting applications for a 9 -month tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Physics position in the College of Science and Engineering. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until position is filled.

Duties: Teach an average of 12 hours per semester in upper-level undergraduate physics courses, freshmen-level algebra-based and calculus-based physics courses and associated laboratories; teach non-science major courses such as Physics in Society; teach in the applicant’s field of expertise; supervise undergraduate research projects; serve on committees; perform scholarly activity; engage in recruitment, retention, and advise students; advise the students’ SPS club and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in physics required by time of employment; applicants with teaching experience preferred; have expertise in physics; demonstrate an ability to teach undergraduate students; excellent communication skills; strong desire to interact with students both in the classroom and in undergraduate research projects.
