This is a multi-year, non-tenure track, Assistant Clinical Professor, academic year position based in Phoenix, Arizona with some travel to Flagstaff, Arizona. The position is renewable, based upon effective performance, availability of funds, and program needs.

The appointment will begin Fall 2017 academic semester, with a potential start date August 2017. This position also has opportunity for summer course teaching. This position is in the Department of Educational Specialties, which is in the College of Education, and offers a dual BSED in Elementary Education and Special Education, and an MEd in Special Education with and without certification, and an MEd in Early Childhood Special Education. The Department of Educational Specialties (ESP) is seeking to fill an Assistant Clinical Professor in Special Education at our Phoenix, East Valley campus beginning in August 2017.

Responsibilities:
Serve as Lead Faculty in the BSED in Elementary and Special Education program in Phoenix, Arizona – working collaboratively with faculty in the BSED in Elementary and Special Education program in Flagstaff, AZ. Teach undergraduate classes for the BSED in Elementary and Special Education program primarily in Phoenix; (12 credit hours per semester total) with possible 3 credit hour release per year for program coordination. Work collaboratively with P-12 school districts to coordinate and supervise practicum experiences for elementary special education students. Teach in-person, with some blended or online courses to students in Phoenix and Flagstaff. Assist in recruiting, retaining, and advising elementary and special education students. Fulfill service responsibilities to the department, college, and the profession.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Teacher certification or eligible for certification in Arizona;
  • Three years of experience in a P-12 setting;
  • Experience working with students in Special Education;
  • Master’s degree in Special Education or related field;
