Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Assistant Professor Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Forensic Science. This tenure-track position effectively teaches undergraduate courses in chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry as well as some related courses in forensic science; will be involved in innovative curriculum enhancement, curriculum development, professional service, grant writing, scholarly activities, community service and vigorous research. Advises and mentors undergraduate students in chemistry, forensic science and related disciplines. Provides demonstrated commitment to helping further the development of both the Chemistry, and Forensic Science programs within the department. Our Chemistry Program is certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS). High quality instruments are available for teaching and research, including a JEOL ECX 300 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectrometer, Spectrophotometer and Fluorescence BioMelt, JASCO circular dichroism spectrometer, Bio-Rad Biologic DuoFlow FPLC system, Applied Biosystem DNA sequencer, Bruker SCION GC/MS, Scion-GC/MS, Agilent LC-MS, Isolera-Dalton Flash LC-MS CEM Microwave System, Shimadzu Prestige FT-IR, Agilent FT-IR, Isolera-4 Flash Chromatography Purification System, and several other pieces of equipment needed for teaching and research. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description.

An earned PhD. in Chemistry is required; postdoctoral experience desired. Teaching and professional experience are highly desirable. Background and/or credit check may be required.
