Job description

The School of Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Sport Management, and Hospitality & Tourism, one of three schools in the College of Business at Western Carolina University, invites applications for a fixed term, one-year, position as an Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship beginning in January or August of 2019. The normal teaching load is four courses per semester.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to teach basic and advanced innovation, leadership and entrepreneurship skills needed for our graduates to start new ventures, expand existing small businesses, and be innovation managers in larger companies. Joining our faculty requires a willingness to work with other innovation management and entrepreneurship faculty to create and deliver integrative curriculum which match learning objectives with course content. Our curriculum is fully integrated and offer our students experiential learning opportunities in developing fundable business plans, preparing pro forma financial statements, and practicing innovation and creativity activities as well as business communication skills.

A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the mission of the school programs in providing students with the skills needed to address the challenges of contemporary business. This position requires teaching both online and face-to-face courses, advising, and service activities as designated by the school director. Moreover, the successful candidate must be willing to meet the AACSB accreditation requirements regarding qualification of college of business faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:

A fixed-term position requires a MBA degree preferably from an AACSB accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

The School, the College of Business, and University expect the successful candidate to possess outstanding communication skills, be an excellent teacher, and possess significant practical work experience in entrepreneurship
