Twelve-month tenure track position; primary instructional duties in the area of Music (all levels); instruction in additional areas of competency may be assigned as needed. Directs the SSU Concert Choir, the SSU Revue, and other official vocal ensembles of the Visual and Performing Arts program. Additional duties include advising, service, research, and participation in assessment and curriculum development; recruitment, fund-raising, and arranging performances. Participates in activities that promote learning in and out of the classroom; performs other related duties as required. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Masters in Music, Music Education or related field; appropriate terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) in Music or related field required for tenure; previous university level teaching experience preferred. Previous choir direction experience required; university-level choir direction experience preferred. HBCU choir experience desired; background and/or credit check may be required.
