Job description

This position is located in Asheville, NC at WCU’s Biltmore Park Instructional Site.

This position will begin August 1, 2017.

The School of Nursing (SON) invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate professor of Nursing in its Accelerated BSN Entry-Option (ABSN). This is a full-time, 9 – month tenure track position available in the accredited (CCNE) SON at Western Carolina University. Rank is commensurate with experience. The School expects the successful candidate to possess outstanding communication skills, evidence of scholarly activity, teach and develop online and traditional courses, advise students, participate on committees, and other university activities. Other responsibilities include: teaching courses primarily in Asheville, supervising student practicums in western North Carolina regions, and human lab simulation. In addition, Western Carolina University has adopted the Boyer Model of Scholarship to support its commitment to integrated learning, the scholarship of engagement, and the stewardship of place.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree in nursing or a BSN and a masters in a related field is required. Degree must be from an appropriately accredited institution.

Eligibility for RN licensure in NC; and two years prior experience in direct patient care as an RN. Applicants must also meet nurse educator requirements as outlined by the NC Board of Nursing. Doctoral degree in nursing or related field is preferred. Degree must be from an appropriately accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with foundations and medical surgical nursing experience and at least two years teaching experience at the BSN level or higher.
