The College of Medicine (COM), Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology is looking for an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine. This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

Duties for the Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in IM-Nephrology will include contributing to the clinical/patient care, research and teaching missions of the division. Clinical/patient care responsibilities will include general nephrology practice entailing caring for complex critically ill patients in outpatient clinics and inpatient settings at multiple facilities in Ohio and Indiana. Duties will also encompass an active role in departmental fellowship programs, resident and medical student teaching. Teaching duties will include precepting of fellows, medical students and/or residents in one’s office-based practice as well as providing lectures or leading small group discussions as part of the COM or residency curriculum, clinical case conferences, core curricula and journal club. Research will focus on clinical outcomes in dialysis patients in acute care, developing a vibrant and successful research program specifically in the areas of facilitating clinical data capture and integration, enabling the retrieval of clinical notes from EHR systems, and improving the readability and the comprehensibility of clinical notes for patient communication. The Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine will be expected to develop preliminary data which will assist in the preparations of competitive research grant applications in the area of patient safety and process improvement, and to present research findings at the local, regional, and national levels.

Minimum Qualifications: Prior to effective date of appointment, applicants must: have an M.D.; have completed a 3-year Internal Medicine Residency; Board Certification in Internal Medicine; have completed a 2-year Nephrology Fellowship; Board Eligibility in Nephrology, which is defined as completion of the aforementioned 2-year Nephrology Fellowship and Board Certification in Internal Medicine; an Ohio Medical License; and, an Indiana Medical License.
