The Samuel I. Ward Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of
Hartford invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor to start August 2019. These positions represent the department’s growing interest in topics related to robotics and the internet-of-things. The preferred specialties are:
Tenure-Track Assistant Professorships require an earned doctorate degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline before beginning the position. The successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in all programs offered by the department.
Both positions require a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, professional development, and service. Effective written and oral communication in English is required. All successful candidates will also be expected to: (1) develop, instruct, and update engineering and engineering technology courses in the department; (2) engage in scholarship and professional development to maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in their respective field and incorporate cutting-edge technology into the curriculum; (3) advise undergraduate students with their capstone projects; (4) serve as academic advisor to undergraduate and master’s students; and (5) contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching, professional activities, and service. Candidates should show a willingness and ability to employ technology in teaching. Candidates will also have opportunities to teach in our innovative University Interdisciplinary Studies program.
The Samuel I. Ward Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has 16 full-time faculty members, enrolls approximately 350 students, and offers ABET-EAC accredited programs in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, an ABET-ETAC accredited program in Electronic Engineering Technology, baccalaureate degrees in Audio Engineering Technology, Computer and Electronic Engineering Technology, and Electromechanical Engineering
Technology, a Master of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and a Master of Science with specialization in Electrical and Computer Engineering. In addition the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture includes ABET-EAC accredited programs in Acoustical Engineering and Music, Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, an ABET-ETAC accredited program in Architectural Engineering Technology, and a NAAB accredited Master’s of Architecture. Within the college, there are 51 full-time faculty and 1000 students.
