Fort Hays State University (FHSU) and the Department of Informatics are accepting applications for an assistant professor of Information Assurance and Cyber Security. The selected candidate will teach courses in the areas of information assurance, network/web security, cyber security, information systems and computer forensics. He or she will stay current in the field through active research and/or practice, and will take a leading service role in maintaining FHSU’s Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education. He or she will work with department, college, and university staff and administrators to recruit students and faculty and to build industry partnerships for internships and graduate placement. This is a tenure track position with title and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
A Ph.D., ABD, or a masters in a related field with a minimum of five years professional industry experience with a commitment to obtaining a doctorate before becoming tenured. The successful candidate will have relevant subject matter expertise and will be able to demonstrate quality instructional skills.
A successful candidate will provide evidence of the ability and desire to meet or exceed the performance expectations outlined below.
The candidate will have:
· Experience in developing and/or delivering face-to-face and distance learning courses;
· Advising experience;
· The ability to teach graduate level courses and guide graduate level work;
· Familiarity with NSA security standards; and
· Ability to develop an outstanding Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Fort Hays State University faculty perform their duties on a 60% instruction, 20% scholarship, and 20% service division of labor.
Faculty generally teach four courses a semester, which may include:

Information System Forensics
Operating Systems Security
Management of Information Security
Candidate can expect to update and re-develop courses as needed. Experience with course development is a positive factor.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Informatics at Fort Hays State University is notable for its innovative culture and successes. The Department was built upon the theme of the movement and use of information. It has grown strongly over the last decade due to the quality of instruction in serving students and has substantial industry support. FHSU Informatics currently instructs five undergraduate academic concentrations: Digital Media Production and Journalism; Web and Mobile Application Development; Computer Networking and Telecommunications; Health Informatics; and Management Information Systems. It offers multiple graduate degree pathways as well as emphasis options in the MBA program. All together, the INT Department serves more than 500 undergraduate majors and approximately 30 graduate students in a given semester. It has plans to significantly increase the graduate program. The department includes 12 full-time faculty, a lab/studio engineer, an administrative assistant, and several adjunct faculty. The Informatics Department has quality facilities include multiple video and audio studios, multiple video editing bays, a music recording studio, web development labs, computer networking/telecommunications labs, and graduate research labs.
