Department of Management & Marketing, School of Business, St. John Fisher College, Rochester, New York, invites nominations and applications for a full time Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Management to teach primarily in the area of Human Resource Management starting fall 2018.

Accredited by AACSB International, the School of Business at St. John Fisher College offers majors in Marketing, Management, Human Resource Management, Accounting and Finance. There are approximately 720 undergraduates enrolled in these majors and an additional 150 students enrolled in the MBA program. Business faculty are encouraged to teach in both undergraduate and graduate programs. The normal teaching load is three 3-credit courses per semester, with opportunities for summer teaching.

Job Responsibilities

Candidates with proficiency and interest in teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses in Human Resource Management including Introduction to HRM, Staffing and Compensation/Rewards are encouraged to apply. The committee will evaluate the suitability of the candidate based on the dissertation and/or published research in these areas.

Faculty in the department carry a three-three teaching load and are expected to show a commitment to teaching. They are also expected to do research and publish, advise students and perform service to the college and the profession.

Education / Experience

Applications are invited from candidates who have completed a Ph.D.in Business Management, Human Resource Management or Organizational Behavior from an AACSB Accredited School of Business. Candidates who are ABD will be considered but only if the evidence shows that the degree will be in hand by the end of the Fall 2018 semester. Faculty who show a commitment to engaging with external constituents are preferred as St. John Fisher College has a robust commitment to community engagement.

Competencies / Skills

Successful candidates will demonstrate the capacity to produce and publish original scholarship in refereed journals to enable classification as “Scholarly Academic” under the guidelines of AACSB International. The requirements for scholarship must be met and maintained for the School’s AACSB accreditation. Successful candidates will also demonstrate the ability to be an effective teacher, a collaborative team player, and demonstrate a commitment to community engagement. St. John Fisher College supports scholarship in several ways including a yearly grant to faculty, and a competitive school-wide grant that is available to faculty applicants. The College also provides administrative help in securing external funding for research. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US, and available to start teaching in Fall 2018.
