Job description

The School of Art & Art History invites applications for a position in Photography at the Assistant Professor level beginning with the 2018-19 academic year. The successful candidate will teach undergraduates and graduates in B.A., B.F.A., M.A. and M.F.A programs. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

The School of Art and Art History seeks a visual artist with a deep knowledge of photographic processes and technologies to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses. This individual will teach within the area of Media, Social Practice, and Design (MSPD) in the School of Art & Art History. MSPD is home to the disciplines of Photography, Graphic Design, and Intermedia. Studying in MSPD provides students the opportunity to develop the visual vocabulary, social responsibility, and cross-media literacies. The candidate must have an MFA or equivalent in Photography, with emphasis on digital imaging and print production. Extensive knowledge of photo history and theory, especially with critical issues in contemporary photography and photographic pedagogy is required. The candidate will demonstrate a promising program of creative work using photography as a mode of creative expression.

The ideal candidate will also be versed in hybrid intersections that include photography and sound, photography and video, and web-based photographic work. A successful record of university-level teaching is preferred.

Required Qualifications:
MFA or equivalent in Photography, with emphasis on digital imaging and print production; extensive knowledge of photo history, contemporary photography and photographic pedagogy; demonstration of a promising program of creative work using photography as a mode of creative expression.

Desirable Qualifications:
Versed in hybrid intersections that include photography and sound, photography and video, and web-based photographic work; successful record of university-level teaching.
