McNeese State University invites qualified applicants and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor of Political Science in the Department of Social Sciences. This is a full-time, 9-month, unclassified, tenure-track position. The appointment begins August 2019.
Position Description and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Professor of Political Science will be responsible for functions related to teaching political sciences courses at the undergraduate level. The Assistant Professor of Political Science will work closely with the Department Head of Social Sciences and will have the following responsibilities:
· Teaching and advising undergraduate students in traditional and online settings.
· Conducting research in candidate’s area of expertise and disseminating results through scholarly publications.
· Providing service that may include participation at one or more of the following levels-department, college, university, community, or civic organization.
· Maintain involvement in appropriate professional organizations or associations.
Required: The applicant for this position must have a Ph.D. in Political Science. Likewise, the person hired should have experience teaching traditional and online political science courses. Furthermore, the successful candidate should be able to teach courses in the following subject matter areas: public policy, American institutionalist (with a focus on the executive or legislative branches), and American political behavior.
