DEPARTMENT OF KINESIOLOGYRECREATIONAND SPORT

POSITION: Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Sport Management. Anticipated start date: August 1, 2018.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required – Earned doctorate in sport management or relevant related field, ABD candidates will be considered; evidence of effective teaching at the college level; and evidence of the ability to publish research and present at professional meetings and conferences.

Preferred – Experience and/or interest in teaching and research activities related to facilities and event management; experience in the sport industry; ability to develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national sport agencies; evidence of the ability to teach online courses and experiential learning activities; experience or potential for obtaining external funding; and desire to facilitate co-curricular activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will teach courses in the sport management program. Duties also include course development and assessment, advisement, supervision of internships, and establishing linkages with practitioners in appropriate sport organizations. Candidates must be able to develop and maintain an active research agenda resulting in refereed publications and professional presentations as well as provide service to the department, college, university, and professional organizations.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport is housed in the College of Health and Human Services. The Department offers nationally recognized Bachelors and Masters degrees with programs/concentrations/minors/certificates in Coaching, Dance, Exercise Science, Martial Arts, Physical Education – Teacher Education, Recreation Management and Youth Leadership, Recreational Therapy, Sport Management, and Strength and Conditioning. There are 4 sport management faculty teaching approximately 250 students in the graduate and undergraduate sport management programs.
