The Department of Agriculture and Veterinary Technology at Alfred State College invites qualified applicants for a full-time, 10-month, tenure track position beginning in August 2019.
Emphasis is placed on experience in anesthesia monitoring and complete care of animals from the pre-operative period through recovery. Exposure to exotic species highly desired and exposure to large animal species desired but not essential. Candidate should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, computer literacy, and the willingness to work as part of a team. The successful candidate will also possess a strong commitment to undergraduate veterinary technician education and mentoring. Teaching experience in any venue a plus as is certification in a veterinary medical specialty. Candidates should demonstrate interest in earning a Master’s Degree prior to tenure.
Applicants must be a New York State licensed Veterinary Technician. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of clinical experience that includes the complete range of technician duties in companion animal practice.
