Job description

The Old Dominion University Department of Communication Disorders and Special Education invites applications for a position as an Assistant Professor in Communication Sciences and Disorders (10 – month tenure track, summer teaching available) to start in Fall 2019. Candidates with expertise in autism, early intervention, multicultural issues, or articulation/phonological disorders are encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related discipline (ABD considered if degree completed by start of employment). Must hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.

Preferred Qualifications: A successful candidate will have potential for or demonstrated record of scholarly research and publication, grant proposal writing, university level teaching, and involvement in professional service activities. Candidates who have clinical experience and/or a commitment to working in multicultural settings are preferred along with strong verbal, written, and technology skills.

The department is housed in the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies, whose mission is to prepare distinguished professionals who become leaders in their fields. The College has active research and service partnerships with regional, national and international businesses, hospitals, agencies, schools and military bases.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
