Job description

As the Construction Management, Assistant/Associate Professor you will teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as applicable; be involved in course and/or curriculum development; research/scholarship; participate on College and University committees and/or initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned Doctorate in Construction Management or a terminal degree in a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation.
  • The ability to teach undergraduate and graduate construction management courses and to work with and mentor student organizations, clubs, and competition teams.
  • Relevant professional experience in the United States construction industry or comparable international experience.
  • ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by January 4, 2019. If successful candidate is ABD, appointment will be made at a Lecturer level on a fixed contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional registration or certifications related to the construction discipline.
  • Have achieved a level of competency using computers in construction management software applications.
  • Have a background in a construction related specialization; including but not limited to Building Information Modeling (BIM), Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Lean construction, building services, and sustainability.
  • Experience with Virtual Reality Hardware/Software and/or Continuing Education Programs a strong plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • The ability to collaborate with related disciplines, industry partners, and the south Florida community.
  • An ability to communicate effectively, work in a highly collaborative faculty environment, conduct themselves professionally, and perform appropriate service functions at the program, school, and university level.
  • Ability to successfully develop relationships and interact with external university constituents in construction, business, and technology and to establish relationships internally.
  • Skills in working in a rapidly developing regional comprehensive university with a focus on creating a student-learning environment among diverse academic disciplines.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate construction management courses, mentor and coach construction management students, and participate in regional/national seminars, workshops and committees.
  • Ability to lead continuing education programs.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diverse range of learners and to use information technology as a pedagogical and professional tool.
  • Established record of success and excellence in university teaching, scholarship, and service. Interest in collaborating both within and outside of the university in the development and delivery of instruction. A commitment to collaborate with other faculty to develop a shared vision of the future.
  • Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued scholarship and service to the school and university.
