Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University is seeking an outstanding leader for the position of Piedmont Healthcare Endowed Chair in Nursing at rank of Professor. The Endowed Chair will cultivate mentorship and lead research in the College of Nursing. The Endowed Chair position is part of Piedmont Healthcare’s endowment gift of $2.85 million to the College of Nursing to enhance nursing education.
The following standards of performance are an expectation of the Piedmont Healthcare Endowed Chair:
- Maintains a distinguished record of scholarly accomplishments (professional, research, and teaching)
- Pursues activities that enhance the reputation of the College and University
- Generates additional private, governmental, foundation and other external grants and funds
- Contributes directly to innovative leadership and scholarly mentoring of students and faculty
- Enhances the research initiatives of the College of Nursing
- Engages in transformative and innovative teaching
- Evidences sustained record of publications
- Participates in guidance of the Ph.D. and D.N.P. degree programs
- Contributes to the strategic plans of the College of Nursing and the University
Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in nursing or a related health sciences field from an accredited institution and have credentials consistent with rank of professor. The Endowed Chair is expected to have a record of exemplary and sustained research, history of obtaining federal funding, consistent publication history, demonstrated leadership in the mentorship of faculty and students, graduate teaching experience, commitment to excellence in teaching, and a vision that will position the College prominently at the national stage. Candidates must have evidence of academic experience regarding ability to mentor and develop faculty in the areas of scholarship, research, and teaching. The Candidate must also hold or be eligible for an unencumbered Georgia RN license.
The Chair position includes a research start up package and excellent benefits. This position includes minimal teaching requirements to allow for the opportunity for mentorship and cultivation of nursing faculty research, as well as to sustain and grow their own research.
Georgia Baptist College of Nursing is located on Mercer University’s Cecil B. Day Campus in Atlanta, GA and is one of four academic units within the Mercer Health Sciences Center. The campus is located within close proximity to multiple acute care hospitals, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other healthcare and academic institutions. The Atlanta area provides an ideal environment for cultural and intellectual stimulation.
The Carnegie Foundation recognizes Mercer University as a Doctoral University with moderate research activity.
