Job description

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking to hire a tenure-track faculty member in the area of Biochemistry/Biophysics. The Department presently consists of 20 full-time faculty and lecturers and is growing. It offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in nearly every sub-discipline of the field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Chemistry and/or Biochemistry at the undergraduate and graduate levels and develop an active, high quality, externally funded and internationally recognized interdisciplinary research program. Applicants at all ranks conducting research in Biochemistry/Biophysics will be considered, but an appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated. Research interests include, but are not limited to biochemistry of muscle proteins and/or biomechanics broadly defined. An ability to participate in interdisciplinary research with faculty in other departments such as Biology and Physics or centers is considered a plus.

 Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline is required.

 Preferred Considerations:

  • Postdoctoral experience is preferred
