Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts at the New School invites applications for a full-time, one-year fixed term faculty position in Journalism + Design, with a targeted start date of Fall 2018. The teaching load is five courses per year, with the expectation of an advising caseload.
The successful candidate will play an integral part in developing and enriching Journalism+Design’s innovative curriculum. The program—now in its fourth year—integrates design methodologies and design thinking with the traditional tenets of journalism, in order to prepare undergraduates to enter the workplace at the forefront of current best practices. All hiring is subject to the Provost’s budgetary approval.
Candidates should have a strong journalism background, demonstrating depth in reporting and digital storytelling across a broad range of media. A demonstrated ability and experience in design methods and design thinking is a strong plus. Candidates should be creative and imaginative, as well as committed to rigorous instruction and the core values of journalism. Further, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for innovative, collaborative journalism and embracing new technologies.

Qualifications: An ideal candidate would possess an MA in Journalism, or the equivalent professional media experience. Recognized scholarly and professional work; demonstrated successful undergraduate teaching experience; ability to contribute to curriculum development for journalism in a liberal arts environment.
