The Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications at Penn State seeks an outstanding faculty member, who brings a distinguished record of professional experience, for the Foster Professor of Practice of Writing and Editing. Appointment, at the rank of Professor of Practice, is scheduled to begin during the 2019-2020 academic year. The successful candidate will possess strong professional credentials and a national reputation for excellence and leadership in journalism, including a decade or more of high-level management experience; will be able to strengthen partnerships with professionals and academics; will be able to work developmentally with students, teaching and inspiring them to excel while adhering to the highest ethical standards; and will be firmly committed to preparing future generations of journalists for the challenges in this rapidly changing industry. Teaching experience preferred.

This is not a tenured position. The College will be opening a new media center, complete with an open, multiplatform newsroom at its center, in late 2020. The Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications is the largest nationally accredited undergraduate program in the country. The College is home to four departments: Advertising/Public Relations; Film/Video and Media Studies; Journalism; and Telecommunications. Faculty members in the Department of Journalism possess a blend of academic and professional credentials and publish in academic journals and the professional press.

They also teach in high-quality programs in-residence and online. The University Park Campus is set in State College, a university town located in the heart of central Pennsylvania.
