Job Description

ARGOSY UNIVERSITY Tampa/Sarasota invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Counselor Education. Responsibilities include teaching graduate-level courses in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Counselor Education and Supervision (CACREP accredited), programs. Additional Master level programs in the College of Counseling, Psychology, and Social Sciences include Marriage and Family Therapy, School Counseling, Forensic Psychology, and I/O Psychology. The college also has doctoral programs in Counseling Psychology and Pastoral Community Counseling. Faculty have teaching course load of 8 and are also responsible for advising students, serving on doctoral dissertation committees, serving on college committees, supervision of Teaching Assistants, involvement in the admissions process, and community outreach and engagement.

Argosy University is regionally accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission, which awards Associates, Baccalaureate, Masters and Doctoral degrees. The university is a fast-paced, non-traditional, adult-oriented learning environment that desires to appoint individuals who demonstrate a passion for excellence, teaching, and who understand and enjoy distance education and alternative delivery formats.

Faculty Position – The ideal candidate must have a doctorate in counselor education and supervision (preferable from a CACREP-accredited institution), or full time teaching experience as a counselor educator at the graduate level prior to 2013 to meet CACREP core faculty requirements. Candidates with experience teaching in non-traditional formats (blended and online courses) are preferred. Demonstrated ability to work collegially with members of the department and the campus community is essential.

Ongoing, demonstrated involvement in the profession as a counselor educator is expected (e.g., membership in ACA, AMHCA, ACES). National Counselor Certification by NBCC and Florida licensure as a Mental Health Counselor or license eligibility is required.

A demonstration of teaching effectiveness will be required as part of the interview. Please include the graduate courses you have taught as well as courses you would be interested in teaching in your cover letter.
