Long Island University (LIU), Brooklyn Campus invites applications for a full time faculty position in the Department of Social Work at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
LIU Brooklyn’s Department of Social Work includes an undergraduate (BASW) social work program with approximately 80 declared majors, originally accredited by CSWE in 1999. The graduate (MSW) program, originally accredited by CSWE in 2003, is primarily an evening and weekend MSW program with approximately 170 MSW students. The MSW program prepares graduates for Clinical and Administrative practice, with concentrations in the following areas: Child and Family Welfare, Forensic Social Work, Gerontology, Not-for-Profit Management, and Substance Use and Other Addictive Behaviors. Although our MSW program is a collaborative program in coordination with LIU’s Post Campus, this current faculty posting is specifically for a position located on the Brooklyn Campus.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach across the curriculum in both our graduate and undergraduate programs. The successful candidate will need to be able to work with individuals and communities of diverse ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the graduate concentration in Substance Use and Other Addictive Behaviors.
- MSW degree from a CSWE accredited college/university, at least two years postgraduate practice experience, and a PhD/DSW in social work or a related field.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence at the college level, including teaching courses related to Substance Use and Other Addictive Behaviors.
- Familiarity with virtual learning environments and course management systems (hybrid/blended teaching) and/or willingness to train.
- Ability to conduct fundable research and publish.
