The University of London Property & Facilities Management Department is looking for a dynamic and progressive group of professionals to join its expanding team.
This recruitment across the department comes at an exciting time at the University of London, with plans for development across the Bloomsbury Campus, significant increases in the provision of residential accommodation and the realisation of challenging environmental sustainability ambitions. There are a number of exciting technical and architectural projects on the horizon which require a dynamic and innovative Property & Facilities Management Team to support them. We are recruiting for seven positions: Head of Sustainability, Health, Safety & Procurement, Senior Project Manager, Health & Safety Manager, Fire Safety Officer, Compliance Officer, Procurement Officer and Building Services Engineer.

The Property & Facilities Management Department is responsible for a diverse and historic estate of over 140 buildings, centred in Bloomsbury but including properties across London and one in Paris. The University is implementing a 20 year master plan across the Bloomsbury estate and aiming to grow both the teaching and residential estates. In addition to this the University has aspirations to be the sector leader in sustainability and achieve zero carbon by 2036.
Sustainability, Health, Safety and Procurement Team
A new team is being established providing cross organisational support and leadership for sustainability andhealth, safety. This team will also be responsible for estate related compliance, supply chain management and procurement.
Environmental sustainability is core to the University of London’s ethos and operations. A 47% reduction in carbon emissions since 2010 has already been achieved and the University is determined to aim for a zero carbon estate and by working towards this ambition, creating an open source professional network and collaborative strategy for achieving this.
Alongside innovative and ground-breaking work on sustainability, the team will ensure a robust approach to environmental, health, safety, fire and compliance management. Ensuring that University employees, students and visitors are working and studying in a safe environment that contributes positively to wellbeing.
The procurement service for the estate sits within the team, bringing a unique opportunity to proactively manage our estates and facilities management supply chain and influence and drive a holistic approach to contracts and projects with a focus on best practice sustainable growth of the estate. This service will work closely with the University’s Procurement Director and central University procurement function.
Taking the strategic lead in the development and implementation of the University’s sustainability (society, economy and environment), health & safety, fire safety and compliance strategies. Aiming to place the University of London as the sector leader for sustainability enhancing the global reputation of the organisation and ensuring legal compliance across all aspects of environmental, health, safety and fire. Driving the University towards zero carbon and ensuring sustainable growth.
This is a key senior management role within the University of London and requires and outstanding individual who is a great communicator, influencer and team leader who is determined to succeed.
