Position Summary

The Department of Medicine (DOM), Division of Behavioral Medicine in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo (State University of New York, SUNY) is seeking applications to fill for a Research Assistant Professor position as part of the expansion of its Behavioral Medicine Clinic.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the motivation and capacity to excel in research. Successful candidates must also be highly collaborative, collegial, and have interests in being part of and contributing to a department and school that is actively building strong ties with the business community and conducting impactful research.

The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo has recently received the CTSA award and opened a new downtown medical school on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, which opened in the fall 2017. This multidisciplinary clinical environment will provide better access to higher-quality care, including innovations in preventative medicine, and will support critical research programs.

The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC) is a consortium of the region’s premier health care, life sciences research and medical education institutions, all located on 120 acres in downtown Buffalo. The BNMC is dedicated to the cultivation of an excellent medical campus for clinical care, research, education and entrepreneurship. Premier clinical and research facilities including Roswell Park Cancer Institute, the new Gates Vascular Institute (GVI), and Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC), and Buffalo General Medical Center (BGMC) are all located in the BNMC. Also located in BNMC are the University at Buffalo Health Institute for Informatics and the Center of Excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD Counseling or Clinical Psychology (APA – Accredited)
  • Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Behavioral Medicine with focus on Pain
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of New York
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the conduct of behavioral medicine clinical trials
