London Metropolitan University is seeking two new Independent Members of its Board of Governors.
London Met’s mission is to transform lives through excellent education. With over 12,000 students, the University is one of the most diverse in London, and has a strong focus on widening participation and on improving the life chances of its graduates. London Met is at a crucial and exciting phase in its history as it implements One Campus ǀ One Community, a strategy to rejuvenate its Islington campus as the centre of the University’s activities.
The University is seeking experienced Board members from diverse backgrounds with an interest and insight into the issues facing higher education. Governors will bring thoughtful and mature contribution to board meetings, be principled yet innovative, and be ready to make tough decisions to shape the University’s future. A willingness to be challenging but constructive, resilience, and a strong strategic focus are essential for this role.
Under its new Chair, Mark Anderson, the Board has five scheduled meetings and one strategy day per year. Governors are not currently paid, but expenses are reimbursed.
