Job Description Summary

Lock Haven University is seeking individuals to serve as temporary/part-time faculty. This position is subject to final budgetary approval and contingent upon enrollment.

Qualified applicants will be included in a “pool” of instructors, which will be used to provide mathematics instruction when the need arises.

The successful applicant will have experience teaching general mathematics courses for majors and non-majors.

Essential Duties

This position may require development and teaching of courses online.

Specific Duties

Teaching assignment will vary depending on the department’s needs. In addition to teaching responsibilities, scholarship and service will also be expected.

Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

A master’s degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, or mathematics education is required.

Terminal degree is required for appointment as Assistant Professor, without the terminal degree candidate will be appointed as Instructor.

Excellent teaching of public-education undergraduate students is expected.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate well, perform well in an interview or teaching demonstration, and successfully complete the interview process.

Preferred Qualifications

A doctorate degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, or mathematics education is preferred.

Experience, with an excellent record, teaching mathematics at the undergraduate level is preferred.
