Job Summary/Basic Function:
Position Description:
The Department of Deaf Studies/Deaf Education is seeking a highly qualified person to fill the instructor and field experience position. The successful candidate will be responsible for on-site instruction and supervision of Lamar University students assigned for field experience to K-12 classrooms in programs with deaf and hard of hearing students. The candidate is expected to establish strong networking with programs for students who are deaf and hard of hearing in order to secure internship and clinical teaching placement and to work with cooperating teachers.

Perform the functions of orientation, instruction, supervision, and evaluation as a faculty member and demonstrates knowledge of context, structure of the discipline as related to the TEKS and Professional Standards for Teachers. Teach a course load appropriate to their field or discipline. Other faculty duties include student recruitment, advising, mentoring, scholarly work, and participation in departmental, college and university service.

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications (minimal):
1.) Teaching Certification (Deaf Education, ASL, or related field)
2.) A minimum of five (5) years experience in the area(s) of certification
3.) Masters Degree

Rank/Salary: The successful candidate will hold the rank of instructor and salary will be commensurate with the candidates qualifications and experience.
