A tenured faculty position at the rank of associate or full professor is available in the Department of Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The department seeks a dynamic candidate who will be an innovative, collaborative and experienced nurse scholar with a record of an established program of research, expertise in securing external grant funding, extensive manuscript review history and numerous publications. This individual will bring an outstanding record of academic achievement, leadership, teaching and outreach skills as well as proven mentorship abilities. This appointment is a full tenured faculty appointment beginning in fall of 2019 (date negoatiable).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A successful candidate will present evidence of the following:

  • PhD in nursing;
  • Current RN license in US, with eligibility for licensure in WI;
  • Eligibility for rank at the Associate or Professor level;
  • Eligibility for tenure at the time of hire;
  • An established program of research;
  • Expertise in securing external grant funding;
  • Extensive manuscript review history;
  • Numerous research publications;
  • An outstanding record of academic achievement;
  • Leadership, teaching and collaboration skills;
  • Proven mentorship abilities;
  • Evidence of working effectively with faculty and students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusiveness.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with public-private partnerships;
  • Evidence of leadership experience related to research, publication and grant securement in an academic or practice environment;
  • Expertise in qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research modalities;
  • Experience in translation and evidence based scholarship.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Chair in Nursing Research provides leadership and vision in knowledge generation and knowledge translation, congruent with the vision, mission and strategic goals of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Serving as a nursing scholarship expert and resource for the Department of Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, this person reports to the Chair of the Department of Nursing. As a tenured member of the Department of Nursing, this individual will serve as a member of the Institute of Health Sciences.

The named chair will be an innovative, collaborative and experienced nurse scholar with a record of an established program of research, expertise in securing external grant funding, extensive manuscript review history and numerous research publications. This individual will bring an outstanding record of academic achievement, leadership, teaching and outreach skills as well as proven mentorship abilities.

The primary focus of the Chair in Nursing Research is facilitating scholarship production of faculty and students with some teaching in the graduate and undergraduate nursing programs. This candidate would facilitate and lead research activities with faculty and students and engage nursing students in high impact scholarship practices. The person holding the Moore Chair position would be viewed as an expert in nursing research in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The University and healthcare partners also would recognize the Moore Chair holder as an institutional leader in research.

The Jane W. and James E. Moore Chair in Nursing Research appointment will be responsible for an annual research/scholarship symposium, which will feature presentations by nursing faculty and students engaged in collaborative research. The Moore Chair will maintain a relationship with the donors and apprise them of the progress of the Department’s scholarship activities.

Specific Duties:

  • Mentor faculty in growing their research programs;
  • Foster a culture of scholarship and continuous improvement within the college and university;
  • Engage in grant writing for funded research and mentor faculty in securing funding;
  • Facilitate the creation of a vision and strategic plan related to nursing scholarship;
  • Provide leadership in implementation of the strategic plan and its annual evaluation;
  • Serve as the Department’s nursing scholarship liaison with healthcare partners;
  • Teach a reduced load in the graduate and/or undergraduate programs;
  • Oversee an annual nursing scholarship event in which faculty, students and community members are involved;
  • Support faculty publication;
  • Maintain a relationship with Jane and James Moore, inclusive of meeting with them annually;
  • Serve as a member of the Institute of Health Sciences.

DEPARTMENT: The College of Nursing and Health Sciences provides undergraduate and graduate programs for Nursing. The College of Nursing & Health Sciences is comprised of the Department of Nursing with two site locations: The University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire campus and the Marshfield Clinic site in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The Department has 32 faculty and clinical instructional staff in addition to two clinical agency coordinators and three full time administrative support staff.

The Department of Nursing offers four-degree programs: traditional bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing Completion (BSNC), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). UW-Eau Claire is the only public university in northwestern and north-central Wisconsin that offers a baccalaureate nursing degree. The baccalaureate degree in nursing, the master’s degree in nursing, and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The baccalaureate degree in nursing, the master’s degree in nursing, and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree are also approved by the State Board of Nursing.

Undergraduate students have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty on faculty-mentored scholarly projects, through an internal program out of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. This Student-Faculty Research Collaboration program is designed to facilitate undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activities. Awards include funds for student stipends, supplies, services, and research travel.

The current student body size consists of 440 pre-nursing students, 430 undergraduate students, and 89 graduate students. Upon graduation, the College has a 99% student employment or continuing education rate.
