Position Category: Faculty – Non Tenure Track (FT)

Summary:
Utah Valley University is seeking Lecturers for English and Literature. Under the direction of the Department Chair of English & Literature, the faculty member teaches four courses per semester related to the English & Literature concentration and other courses as deemed appropriate. Provides service to the college and community, and upholds professional and ethical standards.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an appropriate degree in a related field to the coursework being taught. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of subject matter and course content of composition courses.
  • Knowledge of Canvas or similar learning management systems.
  • Knowledge of current online instructional strategies and pedagogical techniques.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to instruct and motivate students, manage classroom procedures, and evaluate student learning.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively. Requires large classroom, small group and interpersonal interactions with students, faculty, and members of the campus.

Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Masters Degree in English or a closely related field required.

Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctoral degree in English or a closely related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform minimal lifting, bending, standing and walking. Frequent fine hand manipulation typical of the use of a keyboard.
