We are now seeking to appoint a dynamic academic staff member at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer level with appropriate qualifications, experience and expertise to: (i) teach across a range of educational psychology courses in professional and lifelong education qualifications, (ii) contribute to our strategic research interests in educational psychology.

We are now seeking to appoint a dynamic academic staff member at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer level. You will have appropriate qualifications, experience and expertise to: (i) teach across a range of educational psychology courses in professional and lifelong education qualifications, (ii) contribute to our strategic research interests in educational psychology.
You will be able to evidence a collaborative and collegial work style. As a member of the Institute, you will actively contribute to the Institute’s research initiatives to meet the education needs of a culturally diverse society. You will enhance the Institute’s teaching and research profile nationally and internationally by contributing towards the teaching, research and administrative activities of the Institute.
You will possess a relevant Doctoral degree and a record of international research publications appropriate to the level of appointment. Exceptional applicants with a relevant masters degree and professional qualifications may be considered. You will be able to provide evidence of the application of cutting edge pedagogical and educational psychology knowledge in your teaching, preferably in both professional and general education programmes. Experience with blended learning approaches is essential.

To contribute to the Institute’s teaching and research programmes in educational psychology, and to help develop world class capability and capacity in these areas.
Head of Institute
• Model exemplary teaching practice in face-to-face and digitally enhanced blended learning environments.
• Develop, teach, review and evaluate major curriculum components of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in educational psychology.
• Coordinate and administer the teaching of courses and/or programmes in educational psychology.
• Supervise and assist in the supervision of the research activities of students
• Undertake an active, appropriate and viable personal research programme in educational psychology.
• Participate in team-based research in educational psychology.
• Publish papers in Q1/Q2 academic journals and/or other scholarly works and review manuscripts.
• Present research and act as a discussant at academic conferences.
• Generate and promote the generation of research funding.
Service to the Community
• Maintain strong links to the educational psychology community
• Participate in community service activities that further advance the field and/or profession and which are consistent with the University’s Charter and Strategic Plan.
• Support the Institute to develop an environment which gives practical effect to the obligations of the Treaty of Waitangi in teaching, research and service.
• Serve on University and/or Institute committees.
• Ensure observance of University policy and codes of practice in all teaching, research, community service and administrative practices.
• Contribute to the development of an Institute working environment of teamwork and cooperation.
• Undertake continuing personal professional development.
Any other duties as required by the Institute Head.
For Senior Lecturer level, possess a relevant Doctoral degree and an appropriate record of research and publications. For appointment at Lecturer level, possess or have submitted for examination a relevant Doctoral degree.
In exceptional cases, applicants with a relevant masters degree and professional educational psychology qualifications, and a willingness to undertake doctoral study may be considered.
Understanding of the New Zealand education system and biculturalism, or a commitment to develop these, is essential.
A research publication record in reputable peer-reviewed academic and/or professional journals.
A proven track record in, or evidence of potential to engage in, research supervision up to doctoral level.
Personal attributes and behaviours
Proven competence in multiple modes and mediums of teaching, including electronic and online appropriate to the level of appointment.
Clear, confident and skilled online and face-to-face facilitator of adult learning.
Proven record of rapport with students.
Demonstrated collegiality in an academic teaching, research and service environment appropriate to the level of appointment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong research skills.
