The College of Business has 76 full-time faculty and 40 part-time faculty in 6 academic departments: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems & Operations Management, Management, and Marketing. Position Overview:

Visiting faculty are employed by the university to teach or perform research for a limited time. This is a non-tenure track, temporary position. Service or research may be expected.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

The College of Business at the University of Central Oklahoma invites applications for One-year Visiting Assistant Professor positions in Management. Position will begin in August, 2018.

Candidates will be expected to teach courses within the field and/or subfields of Management using a transformative approach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in department and school-related service activities. The ability to teach courses in multiple areas of Management is considered relevant and desirable.

The Management Department currently houses 10 full-time faculty members, and offers undergraduate majors in Management, Human Resource Management, and PGA Golf Management. UCO’s HRM Program is one of the nationally recognized programs aligning with the Society for Human Resource Management’s curriculum guidelines.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).

Qualifications/Experience Preferred:

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or D.B.A., or ABD for either) in Management and be academically or professionally qualified per AACSB standards. Previous teaching and/or work experience in a business school in management is preferred. Ideal candidates will have a successful record of prior professional business experience and leadership responsibilities. ABD candidates will be considered for the rank of Instructor.


Excellence in teaching. Previous teaching experience in higher education environment at level of teaching assistant or higher is required. Candidate must provide evidence of teaching effectiveness/excellence.

Physical Demands:

Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
