Job description

The Music Technology Manager is responsible for audio/video recording, post-production, live video streaming for events, and sound reinforcement in the School of Music. This position is in charge of maintaining and managing the computer lab, recording facilities, and the technical facilities in performance spaces. This role also manages student staff, staff scheduling, and supports the technical needs of the UNO School of Music faculty. With direction from the Coordinator of Music Technology, the Music Technology Manager may also teach one music technology-related course each semester and assist in research activities. This is a full-time 12-month position that may include evenings and weekends.

  • Record audio, video, and live-stream concerts and events for the School of Music.
  • Provide sound reinforcement for School of Music concerts and events.
  • Mix, master, and maintain recording archive.
  • Assist studio recording sessions.
  • Provide support for music technology facilities and high-tech classrooms.
  • Troubleshoot and repair recording equipment.
  • Manage the Recording Services events schedule and post-production schedule.
  • Manage graduate and undergraduate student staff.
  • Provide maintenance of classroom audio cabinets and faculty office stereo systems.
  • Provide technical support for School of Music summer activities.
  • Assist in School of Music research activities.
  • Option to teach one music technology-related course per semester to be determined in consultation with Director of the School of Music and Coordinator of Music Technology.

Work Schedule: Variable hours that may include evenings and weekends.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. 1-year experience working in audio recording, mixing, live sound, or related technical field.?* Ability to lift 49 pounds.
  • Proficiency with Digital Audio Workstations. Excellent technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Detailed and client focused, with a professional demeanor; able to communicate clearly and professionally in person and via email.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in music technology or similar.
  • Advanced Pro Tools experience.
  • Advanced experience with professional recording studio design and practices.
  • Advanced experience with live sound reinforcement design and practices.
  • Intermediate experience with networked audio systems.
  • Intermediate experience with live-streaming A/V.
  • Intermediate experience with computer lab management.
  • Intermediate electronics troubleshooting and repair.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Teaching experience in higher education or similar.
  • Personnel management experience.
