Job description

Faculty Position: Professor in English Rhetoric and Writing and Chair:

The School of Arts & Sciences, Department of Humanities, Tiffin University, is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position in the discipline of English Rhetoric and Writing, who will also serve as a Chair of the Undergraduate Department of Humanities. The position will begin August 2018. Appointment requires residence in the Tiffin, Ohio geographical area. Appointment will be at a rank commensurate with academic education, training and experience.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric and Composition. Preference will be given to applicants who have education in the area of Technical Writing and Communication. Higher-education teaching experience is preferred. The position requires the ability to teach first year composition courses, and technical and business writing. The successful candidate must also be able to develop lower- and upper-division coursework curriculum in various modalities of educational delivery. The successful candidates will support students in preparing to write, and research, to build the intellectual and administrative tools that can enhance the work students will do within industry, government, nonprofit organizations, and public schools. The successful candidate will be able to teach in various modalities, including in face to face and online classrooms.

Minimum qualifications also include academic administrative experience. Responsibilities include both a teaching load per semester in the Fall and Spring Semesters in face-to-face classrooms and administrative Chair duties during all three academic semesters in the Academic Year. Additional teaching assignments during the Summer Semester are additional contracts, and are awarded based on School need.

The candidate chosen as a Chair and faculty member may also be asked to teach in distance learning modalities, including online courses. Position requires leading program outcome assessments and evaluations as Chair, student academic advising, and/or other duties as assigned.
