Job description

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign School of Music seeks Specialized Faculty for one or more part-time and full-time non-tenure track positions. These are one-year or one-semester positions, renewable depending on school needs. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to college-level teaching, an ability to provide courses to diverse student population, and exhibit versatile instructional ability for undergraduate and graduate students. Teaching and research specialization should complement existing faculty expertise, including areas such as applied studio instruction, musicology, music production, and others. In addition, Specialized Faculty will be responsible for teaching assigned courses or lessons throughout the semester, mentoring and overseeing Graduate Teaching Assistants, and meet with faculty when appropriate. Additional duties in the area of service may be requested as circumstances dictate. Successful candidates will join colleagues who place high value on fostering a diverse and inclusive culture. Proposed start dates will be dependent upon departmental needs and salary will be commensurate with rank and experience. An advanced degree in music and/or relevant industry experience, and a minimum of 3 years teaching experience, are preferred.
