The Department wishes to appoint a permanent full time Senior Lecturer in Computational Architecture and Digital Design to help develop and contribute to teaching, research and knowledge exchange within the Department, specifically for our Architecture and Design programmes.
We are looking for someone with an excellent standard of expertise the areas of Computational Architecture. Suitable applicants for this post will be up to date with current developments in the areas of Architectural practice and will be able to demonstrate a professional standard of expertise in the following areas:
- Architectural practice
- Architectural Computation
- Digital Design
- Parametric Design – (Rhino/Grasshopper)
- Coding or physical computing for Architectural Design
- Research – With a proven research track record through publication in major conferences and journals, or through practice.
Experience of student design studio project & dissertation supervision would also be advantageous.
In addition to delivering effective teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level, the post holder at H grade will be expected to take on module leadership including managing their teaching team(s).
The precise blend of teaching/research/academic management is not specified but it is important to note that at this level of appointment the role holder is expected to make a significant contribution to teaching and research / knowledge exchange / business-to-business activities of the Department and Faculty. An element of the Department’s strategy for the future is the embracing and embedding of technology-enhanced provision across its range of activities and we would be particularly interested to hear from individuals with experience in this area.
The appointee will be expected to contribute to teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate and foundation levels. In addition to the above expertise, he/she will be called upon to teach in other areas of the syllabus, specifically our technical and specialist modules. Other duties will depend upon the background of the appointee, who will be expected to make an enthusiastic contribution to the life of the department and faculty.
