Term Associate Professor, Computational Data Sciences
The George Mason University Department of Computational and Data Sciences (CDS) in the College of Science invites applicants for a part-time Term Associate Professor position (0.5 FTE). We are seeking an enthusiastic teacher who is willing to dedicate significant time to the development of the degree programs at all levels within the CDS department. Starting in August 2018, the incumbent will be responsible for teaching two assigned courses on topics relating to computational modeling, data analysis, and computational social science per semester. Service activities include the guidance for graduate, undergraduate students’ research endeavors, and contributions to online teaching. The selected finalist will be encouraged to pursue external research funding in a closely related field to involve our current students and to supplement the baseline 0.5 FTE funding for this position.
- Successful completion of a doctorate degree in a related field;
- Demonstrated effective teaching of courses similar to those within the department; and
- Demonstrated experience generating sponsored project funding and performing research.
- A broad background in inter-related disciplines in computational science, computational social science, and data science is desired.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
