Visiting Assistant Professor
South Asian History (16th Century to Present)

The Department of History at the University of Cincinnati seeks a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor beginning August 15, 2018, to teach courses on South Asian History from the 16th century to the present. The successful candidate will also teach Asian and World history surveys as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her specialty, which may include gender, religion, politics, colonialism and its continuing legacies, Hinduism, the Islamic World, Islam in South Asia, and History of the Indian Ocean World. The candidate will be expected to conduct research and publish actively in the field of South Asian history and contribute to the mission and service of the Department, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the University.
Minimum Qualifications include a Ph.D. in History by the time of appointment, evidence of scholarly publications in South Asian history, as well as three years of teaching experience at the university level. The successful candidate will have a 2-3 semester teaching load, or service equivalent. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
