The University of Indianapolis (UIndy) Department of Theatre in the Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences seeks applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Scenic Design. This is a full-time, one-year (nine month) appointment with benefits for the 2018-2019 academic year.
UIndy is primarily a teaching university, our faculty are expected to balance teaching with student supervision/advising and participate in service activities at the department and college/university level. Teaching responsibilities are 24 hours per year, which includes teaching and designing. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Teaching responsibilities will include Scenic Design, Stagecraft, Introduction to Theatre Design, Theatre Production and a Capstone Seminar sequence. Other responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, Scenic Design for department productions and supervising student projects. Specific assignments will depend upon the department’s needs.
UIndy is located minutes from downtown Indianapolis’s vibrant arts scene. The Department of Theatre maintains a close relationship with numerous professional and professionally managed theatres providing opportunities for faculty members to design outside the university. The department also hires local professional designers and actors as adjuncts or guest artists, allowing for a collaborative relationship on campus.
- Teach 24 credit hours per year, which includes teaching and designing
