Position Overview

Massey University is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Global Engagement (International Relations) to lead and enhance our international partnerships and reputation. This role is crucial in advancing our engagement with international communities, global indigenous networks, and institutional partners.

As part of the Office of the DVC Students and Global Engagement, you will work collaboratively with colleges, research areas, and professional units to build and maintain relationships that strengthen Massey's international presence. You will also play a key role in supporting global research partnerships and driving international knowledge exchange.

The preference of campus location is Palmerston North, Manawat, however, we are open to the preferred applicant working at our Wellington or Albany, Auckland Campus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Expand and enhance Massey's engagement with international communities and indigenous networks.
  • Collaborate with colleges, research areas, and the DVC Students and Global Engagement team to support Massey's international strategy.
  • Lead the international relations team to support college-specific globalisation plans.
  • Act as the primary contact for international delegations and visitors, ensuring positive international relations.
  • Strengthen partnerships with global institutions, government agencies, and international organizations.

Legislative Compliance
  • Maintain awareness of current, pending, and new legislative developments related to international relations.
  • Interpret the implications of legislation for the University's global engagement practices, ensuring appropriate policies and guidelines are developed and maintained to align with international legal frameworks.

Qualifications:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (international relations or law preferred), with postgraduate qualifications being an advantage.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience managing global engagement activities.
  • Proven success in building and managing international partnerships.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with experience in diverse international markets.
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and working in culturally inclusive ways.
