We are seeking one or more term, variable time, non-tenure track faculty to join the Public Health & Recreation Professions (PHRP), housed in the College of Education and Human Services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The Department of Public Health and Recreation Professions is nationally recognized for its programs in both public health and recreation. The Recreation Professions program offers B.S. and M.S. degrees with three specializations (Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Services Management, and Outdoor Recreation Leadership Management). Qualifications: The rank of Assistant Lecturer requires a master’s degree in recreation or related field. The rank of Assistant Professor of Practice requires a doctorate in recreation or related field. Preference will be given to applicants with previous university/college teaching experience and a completed doctorate.

Duties:

  • Teaching assigned undergraduate and graduate courses. Areas needing coverage include: Leadership in Recreation, Program Design and Group Dynamics, Inclusive Recreation, and Community Recreation.
  • Maintain office hours.
  • Provide assessment information as needed for relevant courses.
