The English Department at Eastern Illinois University invites applications for a tenure-track position in English Education at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will teach secondary level methods courses in our award-winning English Language Arts teacher certification program, general education courses including first-year writing, and other undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in an area of additional specialization. We seek candidates with demonstrated ability, interest and promise in research or creative activity and publication in any area of English Studies.

A doctorate in English Education or related area is required by time of appointment. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience with promoting inclusive excellence is required. Experience teaching at the secondary level is preferred. All areas of secondary specialization are welcome, but preferred areas include young adult and/or children’s literature, composition and rhetoric, or professional writing.
