Assistant Professor of English (Composition & Rhetoric)

Job description

Riyadh 11533, Saudi Arabia

Alfaisal University’s College of Science invites applications for full-time assistant professors of English. While research and service are expected and supported, the job is teaching-focused: English professors are assigned 12-14 hours of weekly classroom teaching (mostly within the first-year composition sequence). Candidates with backgrounds in composition and rhetoric are preferred, and preference will be given to candidates with a completed doctoral degree at the time of application. All candidates must have completed their Ph.D. by May 2022 in order to complete the visa process in time for the fall semester.

The position will begin in August 2022, and responsibilities include lesson preparation, assisting with curriculum development and assessment, mentoring and advising students, attending staff meetings and workshops, and playing a full and active part in the life of the university.

The university has a writing center as part of our recently-established Academic Success Center, a new writing-to-learn program, and a variety of burgeoning workshops and student publications. We invite applicants to consider where their skills and background might be useful in advancing these exciting programs.

Life in Saudi Arabia is different from what you might expect! The country is changing rapidly and exciting new events, venues, and activities are appearing all over the capital city of Riyadh (Winter Wonderland, Riyadh Season, Edge of the World).
