The Division of Communication and Creative Media at Champlain College seeks an experienced artist/educator for a full-time Assistant Professor of Game Art. As part of the Game Studio at Champlain College, the successful candidate must be collegial and collaborative in order to work closely with faculty from other programs. The position is to begin August 2020.

Duties: Teach four courses per semester in foundation to advanced Game Art subjects. Contribute to curriculum development in the areas of Game Visual Effects or 2D Game Art. Help foster and further develop industry relationships. Advise and mentor students. Participate in portfolio reviews of prospective students. Engage in program, division and college-wide service.

Qualifications: Industry experience in the areas of Game Visual Effects or 2D Game Art/Concept Art and/or an MFA in a related area. A terminal degree is preferred. However, as Champlain College values practical experience, consideration will be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree plus significant industry accomplishments as measured by years of experience, published games, publications/articles and online tutorials. Candidates must have professional experience in Game Development or a closely related industry and be able to demonstrate a commitment to teaching.

Successful candidates will have professional experience with software used in the creation of Game Visual Effects or 2D Game Art. This includes Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Unity and UE4. Experience with Maya, Houdini, Substance Painter, Substance Designer and ZBrush is preferred.
