Job description

The School of Psychology, Sociology and Rural Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology position with a start date in August 2023. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, nine-month position. Minimum qualifications include Ph.D. in Psychology (or closely related area at the doctoral level) by the start of the position, experience teaching college/university level psychology, and evidence of a promising research program. Primary responsibilities are teaching, research, mentorship of undergraduate students, and service. This faculty member is supervised by the Director of the School of Psychology, Sociology and Rural Studies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Psychology (three courses in the fall term and three courses in the spring term; summer teaching is optional and is based on availability).
  • Mentor undergraduate students in research.
  • Maintain an active research program.
  • Provide service to the School, College, and University as well as service to the profession.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of Ph.D. in Psychology (or a closely related area at the doctoral level) by start date.
  • Experience teaching college/university level psychology.
  • Evidence of a promising research program.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Focus in clinical, criminal, forensic, health, industrial/organizational, or sports psychology.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate research.
  • Online teaching interest or experience.
  • Grant-writing interest or experience.
  • Interest and ability to teach a variety of courses.

SALARY:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
